Disk Storage

Web space is the amount of usable space that you are allotted on our servers. Our hosting plans include generous disk space allotment to accommodate your needs.

Data Transfer

Bandwidth is the amount of data transferred to or from your website. We measure bandwidth in gigabytes per month.

Email Accounts

Email accounts are standard mailboxes that can be checked with your favorite mail client, or online via our web email interface. Each account comes with one main "catchall" email account, and a number of additional secondary accounts.

MySQL Databases

MySQL is a powerful, multi-user SQL database client/server platform used in many scripts and programs today. Through our online control panel, clients can manage mySQL users and databases, specify access permissions, and even get sample database access code for popular programming languages.

Additional FTP Accounts

Additional FTP accounts allow you to grant another user FTP access to a specific directory within your account without giving him or her full access to your site. FTP accounts can only access files in the directory that matches their login name. For example, if your domain name was example.com and you added an FTP account with a login of joe, that user would only be able to access the files within example.com/joe.

Mailing Lists

Our mailing lists are powered by Mailman (www.list.org). This powerful mailing list software comes pre-installed on your account and includes an easy to use, full-featured web based interface for managing your mailing lists.

Subdomains

A subdomain is another domain name that is actually part of your main account domain name. An example of a subdomain for the domain example.com would be photos.example.com. Subdomains point to subdirectories of your main account with the same name. Sub domains can be added or deleted through your account control panel.

Domain Parking

A domain park allows you to alias additional domain names to your account. If your main domain name was example.com and you setup a domain park for myparkeddomain.com, you could access the myparkeddomain.com website by going to either http://myparkeddomain.com or http://example.com. We allow up to 10 parked domains per account.

No Setup Fee

Unlike many of our competitors, we waive the setup fee on all new hosting accounts.

Web, POP, SMTP, and IMAP Email Access

Our WebMail interface allows you to access all of your POP email accounts through an easy to use web-based interface. This makes it easy to check your email when you're on the road or at a friend's house.

In your email client, POP is usually known as your incoming mail server. POP allows you to download email directly to your computer through an email client and is the most popular method for accessing email.

Working together with POP, SMTP is your outgoing mail server. Our SMTP server is a secure relay, thus you must authenticate as you would to check your email through POP.

IMAP works the same as webmail, except you use your email client. IMAP does not download email to your computer, it keeps all of your messages on the server, thus is very useful to keep your email in a centralized location.

Power Backup

All of our servers are plugged into a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). UPS's serve as an intermediate power supply in the event of a power failure to give us ample time to power up the backup generators.

CPanel Control Panel

Our control panel allows you to easily and instantly make changes to any aspect of your account through an online interface.

Microsoft FrontPage Extensions

Microsoft FrontPage is a popular website management system that allows beginning or advanced webmasters to manage a website easily and effectively. Our servers support the FrontPage server extensions, you simply need to enable them with your control panel.

Anti-Spam Tools

We absolutely hate spam and make sure you have as many tools as possible to fight it.

Spam Assassin

Spam Assassin will tag your incoming email messages that exhibit patterns of being junk mail as spam. Spam Assassin is highly effective because of the wide spectrum testing that it performs on every message. You have the choice of having Spam Assassin drop email into a special folder for later inspection, or to have the tagged email simply deleted.

DNS Real-Time Blacklisting

We use real-time blacklists to filter all email messages. These blacklists contain the IP address of known spammers and thus dramatically reduce junk email being delivered to our customers. If you are concerned that legitimate messages may not be delivered you may opt-out of our DNS blacklisting at anytime by contacting support.

Dictionary Attack Prevention

Tired of getting all those emails to random address like 83haks8@example.com? We were too. Our dictionary attack prevention system detects email being sent to non-existant email addresses; once a single IP address has sent four messages sent to non-existant addresses that IP address will be temporarily blocked from sending email to our server for the next four hours.

No Limit User Email Filtering

Email filters allow you to setup rules to analyze and systematically block email coming to your account. This feature is useful to block out known spammers and unsolicited advertisements.

No Limit Email Forwarders

An email forward allows you to map an email address to any other valid email address. For example, if your domain name was example.com, you could setup joe@example.com to forward to your AOL email account, joeschmoe1234@aol.com. You can point any email address at your domain to any other valid email address(es). Positive Fusion does not limit the number of email forwarders that you can setup.

No Limit Email Autoresponders

Email autoresponders allow you to setup an auto-reply on certain email addresses within your account. You can use auto responders to thank your potential customers for contacting you, to let friends and associates know that you are away on vacation and much more. We do not limit the number of autoresponders that you can setup on your account.

Catch-all Email Address

You can define a catch-all email address to receive any email that is not sent to an account at your domain name for which there is not already an email alias or POP email account in place.

Enhanced Security Filtering

We utilize the mod_security module for Apache to filter against commonly seen web attacks. Mod_Security is also very useful to filter out comment and trackback spam sent to content management systems like Movable Type and Wordpress. This security filtering is enabled by default, but may be disabled on a file by file, or domain by domain basis, if you prefer.

Server Side Includes (SSI)

SSI allows you to insert dynamic content into your pages on the server-side. SSI is useful when you want to use a common header or footer across multiple pages, or want to insert the output of a CGI program into an HTML page. By default, all SSI pages must have the extension ".shtml", however this can be changed by using the MIME types editor in your control panel.

Private CGI-bin

All hosting accounts come with a private CGI-bin, in which you can store your custom scripts and programs. If your domain name were example.com, then the location of your site's CGI-bin would be example.com/cgi-bin/.

Site-wide CGI Access

Our server configuration permits you to run CGI programs anywhere within your site - even outside your CGI-bin. You simply need to make sure that the permissions are set properly on your programs.

PHP and Zend Optimizer

PHP is a very popular server-side scripting language that can be embedded into HTML pages to produce dynamic content quickly and easily. Our servers capability to process PHP scripts is also enhanced with the Zend Optimization system, to ensure that your PHP pages load lightning fast.

Perl 5 and Additional Modules

Perl is one of the most popular programming languages on the Internet. Our virtual hosting servers sully support Perl as a CGI programming languages. Our Perl installation includes many popular modules, and we are willing to install additional modules upon request.

Python

Python is a powerful interpreted programming language that can be used for writing CGI programs. More information on the Python programming language is available at www.python.org.

Access to Raw Logs

We can give you access to the raw HTTP log files for your website directly within the control panel. This can be useful if you would like to compile your own statistics based upon these usage logs.

Comprehensive Site Statistics

Analog

Analog produces a simple summary of all the people who have visited your site. It is fast and provides great lightweight statistics.

Webalizer

Webalizer is a more complex stats program that produces a nice variety of charts and graphs about who has visited your site. This is probably the most popular stats engine available today.

AWStats

AWStats is a powerful and featureful tool that generates advanced web server statistics, graphically.

SSL Secure Server Access

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) creates a secure connection between your website and your visitors to ensure that sensitive data being exchanged can not be intercepted and abused by third parties. Customers are permitted to use our server-wide SSL certificates at no additional charge. To access your site using our SSL certificate create the link as https://secure.positivefusion.com/~username/. We also support private SSL certificates for Impressionist or higher accounts. There is a yearly fee of $50.00 for setup of private SSL certificates.

Automated Script Installation

Through your control panel, you can install and configure many easy to use Perl and PHP scripts. Currently we provide automated installation of the following scripts and more are always being added:

Password Protection

Through your account control panel, you can setup password protection on certain directories within your website. You can add, remove and edit new directories and users within those directories. This can be used to setup "members only" sections on your site, or to protect private content to a specific group of people.

Scheduled Tasks

Cron allows you to configure the system to run a specific command at pre-defined time intervals. Through your control panel, you can add and remove cron entries to your account.

Custom MX Record Modifications

If you would want to redirect email processing to another server you may change the MX record for your domain within the control panel.

Perl Module Installs

Perl modules help to expand the functionality of the Perl language installed on a system. If you would like a Perl module installed and we do not already have it on your server, we will install it at no additional charge.

Custom MIME Settings

MIME types help the webserver map certain file types to certain file extensions. Through your online control panel, you can define custom MIME types for your website and configure custom file extensions.

ImageMagick Support

ImageMagick is a robust collection of tools and libraries to read, write, and manipulate an image in over 68 major formats including popular formats like TIFF, JPEG, PNG, PDF, PhotoCD, and GIF. With ImageMagick you can create images dynamically, making it suitable for Web applications.

PhpMyAdmin Access

PhpMyAdmin is a web-based tool that allows you to directly access your mySQL databases. PhpMyAdmin can be used to manually enter SQL queries and commands, as well as to setup and configure newly created databases. This program can be accessed directly through your account control panel.

Web Based File Manager

Our powerful web based file manager allows you to edit, upload, delete, move, rename, and change permissions on any file within your website. This allows you quickly and easily make changes to your website from a clean, easy to use web interface. The web based file manager is built right in to your account control panel.

Custom Error Pages

You can quickly and easily design custom error pages for your website so that your visitors won't see the plain "404 not found" error page if they follow a broken link. You are allowed to define custom error pages for error codes 401, 403, 404, and 500. The custom error page editor can be accessed through your account control panel. You may also customize your error documents with .htaccess directly.

SSH Access

We provide SSH access to our servers by request only. SSH provides you with secure access to a system shell from which you can directly edit the files in your website. This feature is not included by default, and will be taken away if abused. We reserve the right to revoke SSH access at any time if we feel it necessary.

Daily, Weeky, & Monthly Backups

Made a horrible mistake and didn't backup first? Not to worry, we create and maintain complete daily, weekly, and monthly backups of all hosted websites, including mysql databases if applicable. If you need us to retrieve a backup for you just let us know by contacting support.
